August 1994 - Friends of the Earth monitor air quality

Friends of the Earth set up equipment at three key city centre sites – Cross Street near the Royal Exchange, Oxford Road and Shambles Square to sample levels of nitrogen dioxide from motor traffic. The Manchester Evening News plans to feature the figures each week for a month to see just how serious the problem is.
