There are three good reasons (and probably several meh ones) to build this site.
a) For people who were “there” to remember what they went through, what they did and be able – if they want – to a process of collective remembering
b) For people who weren’t there (because they were busy/having careers/not yet born) who want to learn about what was done, what “worked” and what didn’t, so the mistakes they make now are more useful and fruitful so soon they can hasten the eco-utopia
c) So “we” (whoever that is) can tell the stories, before the academics mangle it.
